Headlines that changed

How this works

NewsMarkets records a headline once, when it first sees it. We then read each publisher's own feed again, at most every 30 minutes and with a pause between requests to one publisher, for every headline from the last 24 hours. If a headline's wording has changed, and the new wording shows on two checks in a row, we keep both. Changes in spacing, punctuation or capital letters, and a publication's name added or removed, are not counted. We read only the headline and its link from the feed, never the article. A headline that changes after a day is not caught. Many changes are corrections, and many are just better wording or a test of what readers click. We do not say which.
